A difference of two or more wins between an NFL team’s record from last season and its current preseason win total is generally considered significant. This year, 12 teams fall into that category, with six projected to improve by at least two wins and six expected to decline by the same margin.

The biggest projected jumps belong to the Patriots and Broncos, both with win totals that are four games higher than last season’s results. New England is looking to rebound from a 4–13 campaign, while Denver enters the season with increased expectations after finishing 10–7.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Browns and Jets are among the teams projected to take a step backward. Cleveland enters the season facing continued uncertainty at quarterback and questions about an aging defense. The Jets, meanwhile, begin a new era with Justin Fields under center after moving on from Aaron Rodgers, while also replacing several key defensive contributors.

Among the projected risers, the Commanders stand out with a three-win increase over last season’s record. Washington made several notable offseason additions on both sides of the ball, bolstering its offensive playmakers while strengthening the defensive front.

How do you bet on NFL win totals?

The NFL win total bet is a standard over/under wager. Sportsbooks will set a line on total wins for all 32 NFL teams. Bettors can then wager on a team finishing over or under its line. This is different from a bet like the NFL Comeback Player of the Year, which is considered a futures bet.
